Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine which aims to promote general health by reinforcing the natural healing capacity of the body within safe parameters. Homeopathy does not have treatments for disease, but rather it has remedies for people with disease.
Conventional medicine is known to homeopaths as allopathic medicine. Allopathic treatment describes the use of drugs that are different from the symptoms and therefore work against the disease, eg anti-biotics, anti-depressants, anti-inflammatory.
Homeopathy means 'similar to the disease symptoms'. The remedies, used to treat illnesses, are capable of producing similar symptoms in a healthy person to those already present in the patient who requires the remedy.
Homeopathic remedies are very dilute in their preparation, but it is the complex preparation and dilution of the substances that enables them to work at an energy level rather than on the level of matter, which is often described as vibrational therapy.
Because no two individuals manifest their illnesses in exactly the same way, even given the same diagnosis, it is only when a substance is matched with a patient according to the Law of Similars that it becomes homeopathic. This system of medicine was first developed in 1790 by a German physician called Samuel Hahnrehan, who cured an entire village of cholera using homeopathy.
Evaluation of Symptoms
The homeopathic practitioner selects an appropriate remedy through evaluation of the symptom picture, and will select the
strength and dosage according to the intensity of the illness.Homeopathic remedies are made up as either tiny pilules or
as drops. The usual dosage is either five drops or two pilules taken two or three times a day. It is important for
patients to refrain from handling the remedies; pilules should be tipped into the lid and then into the mouth. It is
preferable for the remedy to remain in the mouth, preferably under the tongue, for a minute, and timing should ensure
the remedy is taken at least twenty minutes before, or twenty minutes after food, drinks or the cleaning of teeth.
Homeopathy, (also called homeopathics), is a system of medicine based on the three principles which includes like cures
like; minimal dose (taken in dilute form) and the single remedy where it does not matter how many symptoms are experienced,
only one remedy is taken.
Similar principles form the basis of conventional allergy treatment, where the allergic substance is given to the patient
in a small dose, and in vaccines where an impotent form of the virus is given to bolster the immune system against that
particular virus.
Homeopathy is extremely effective and when the correct remedy is taken, results can be rapid, complete, and permanent. It
is also safe and even babies and pregnant women can use the remedies without the danger of side effects. Homeopathic
remedies can be taken alongside other medication without producing unwanted side effects.
Homeopathic remedies, which are normally based on natural ingredients, work in harmony with the immune system, unlike some
conventional medicines which suppress the immune system. (For example, cough medicines suppress the cough reflex, which is
your body's attempt to clear the lungs). These remedies are not addictive and once relief is felt, they should be ceased.
If no relief is felt, the patient is probably taking the wrong homeopathic remedy.
Homeopathy is holistic. It treats all the symptoms as one, which in practical terms means it addresses the cause,
not the symptoms. This often means that symptoms tackled with homeopathy do not recur.
